Porcelain or Ceramic Veneers

Composite Veneers Mackay

Would you like a nicer smile? Who wouldn’t – right?! Porcelain or composite veneers are a great option for achieving this.  What is the difference and which is better for you?

Porcelain veneers are the ‘premium’ option. They are thin ceramic covers bonded to the teeth, which custom made in a premium dental laboratory. They provide the more natural and more aesthetic option. If you want a ‘wow’ smile, think porcelain veneers. They can be customised for shape, style and colour and are less likely to chip and wear down. However tooth does need to be removed.

Composite veneers or bonding are hard crafted white resin filling material bonded to the teeth. They don’t look as nice or natural as porcelain, but they will improve your smile. They are the more cost effective option, but they have a reasonable life expectancy. They don’t require removal of tooth enamel so are the more conservative option, so they are often better if minor enhancements are required. They are more prone to staining and discolouration.

We love seeing patients new smile and the difference it makes to them. We achieve this via digital smile design and careful treatment planning.  Ultimately the choice of material depends on various factors and your dental needs, budget and the outcome you desire.
